- Event Overview
Rehman Mehmooda Lifeline Foundation (RMLF), in collaboration with ASG Eye Hospital, Srinagar and Amal Hospital, Anantnag, successfully organised a Free Health Check-up and Awareness Camp at Bidhrad village, Kokernag, under its sustained rural healthcare outreach programme.
The initiative received active support from the Zonal Education Department, Anantnag, under the leadership of ZEO Vailoo, which facilitated the venue at Government Middle School Bidhrad. The school Headmaster, Mr. Javeed Ahmed, personally supervised and coordinated the event.
The medical camp aimed to bridge critical healthcare gaps in remote areas by providing free medical consultations, screenings, medicines, and health education to underserved communities.

- Objective & Purpose
To provide free health screenings and essential medical services
To raise health awareness at the grassroots level
To promote early diagnosis and preventive healthcare
To reach populations with limited access to healthcare facilities
Target Group:
Marginalised and low-income residents of Bidhrad village facing geographical and financial barriers to healthcare.

General physician consultations (Doctor from Govt. Hospital Anantnag)
Eye screening for vision-related ailments
Screening for diabetes, hypertension, and chest-related diseases
Preventive healthcare counselling
Free distribution of essential medicines
Health education sessions on hygiene, nutrition, and disease management

Majority of attendees had limited or no prior access to healthcare

Ms. Zia Darakshan, Director, RMLF, stated that the foundation remains committed to addressing healthcare disparities in remote areas through sustained outreach programmes that combine awareness with accessible services.
Executive Director of RMLF, Ms. Farhana Rakshand, said that the organisation believes in taking healthcare to the doorsteps of vulnerable communities. She added that sustained medical outreach and awareness programmes are key to improving long-term health outcomes in rural areas.
Mr. Imran, Marketing Head, ASG Eye Hospital, highlighted that rural communities often neglect eye health due to lack of awareness and access, and such camps enable early diagnosis and prevention of avoidable blindness.
Mr. Zaid Dalal, Managing Director, Amal Hospital Anantnag, emphasized the rising prevalence of non-communicable diseases like diabetes and hypertension in rural populations and stressed the importance of early screening and counselling.
Community Feedback:
Abdul Gaffar, a local resident, appreciated the accessibility and impact of the camp.
Haneefa and Fahmeeda expressed that they had never experienced such doorstep healthcare services before and requested more such camps in the future.
Ms. Parveena, former DDC Member, praised the initiative and urged regular medical camps in far-flung areas.
